I'LL UPLOAD A CHRISTMAS PIC ON TIME ONE OF THESE YEARS!!

Being by far the largest piece I've ever worked on, with the most effort exerted, at that, I'd have to say that late or not, I am very proud of this piece. I must have started this back in November, to get a head start on it to have it uploaded in time for Christmas. But then came an unexpected surprise: a computer virus acting in the guise of an antivirus program, which caused me to lose more than a week's production time. In the end I had to reformat my system to get rid of it, so I lost everything I had. But, I did manage to back up all of my pictures, including this one, which was still in the early sketch phase at the time. Had that not happened, this might have been uploaded on or just after Christmas Day! Even though things turned out the way they did, I'm happy to see it completed. It's been a long journey, but I survived every minute! As far into it as I was, really, why stop? Besides, I was having too much fun!!

This is my gift to some of my close friends and fellow RPer's, as well as the dA and TK community for keeping their eye on me for so long. Here we have six notable characters nestled upon the couch before a blazing fireplace at a late-night Christmas get-together in the home of Kanasta d'Alegría, the loving latina in the center of the image. This piece is done in three segments, from left-to-right: the American way!

1. Erusa Aikocho and Lilliana Wiesel - The kind little fairy has found herself quite the friend and playmate in the youthful albino, hoping to spend a lot more time with her in the coming year. Lilliana had actually just celebrated her nineteenth birthday on the 21st of December, so imagine her surprise when Erusa shows up with another present for her! These two have a friendship that shall go on everlasting, and it's only getting stronger, day-by-day.

2. Kanasta d'Alegría and Tsu-maru Annaii - These two have long been close, ever since their first encounter at Claris Manor in the fall of 2007. Since then they have had their share of ups and downs, but have always come out on top, learning more about the other and only coming to love one another more and more with each moment they share. The two have grown to share a mother-and-daughter relationship, despite their differences, with the latina woman caring for the small fairy as though she were her own. Unable to keep her eyes off of her even when she's snuggling into her shoulder, Kanasta's love for Tsu-maru is second to none, and shall continue on for as long as the two walk hand-in-hand on this earth.

3. Regina Venus and Jez Wolfe - Sporting a very festive get-up and some shockingly blonde hair, Regina may be difficult to recognize at first glance, having taken on a more natural appearance as she's maturing, seeking something that will make her not simply stand out, but make her feel as though she were her own person. Her personality goes unchanged, though, as she eyes her dear friend Jez enjoying Kanasta's homemade hot cocoa, a small but noticeable trace of whipped cream left upon her lips. Not to worry, though! These two are like peanut butter and jelly, in more ways than one. Who needs napkins in this house when you've got mistletoe? 'Tis the season, after all~

I hope you can all enjoy this piece with as much pleasure as I felt while making it. Everyone, I hope you had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday. May the next Christmas be just as lovely!

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayng! I've been following this thing in the works for a long time, but seeing it all come together is jaw dropping. Especially when the fire effect is added. Everyone looks so bold and lifelike.. like you could feel the fabrics of their clothes.

The only thing that seems to not fit in is the tree. Somehow it just stands out as awkward, it doesn't seem as real as the rest of the pic. The light sceme is kinda simple, but I doubt too many people will really be looking there.

All in all, it's been a great journey and it's nice to see it come to a close.

.....There are just too many awesome things about this picture. I love how the angles of the soles are all obvious without having to use any wrinkle lines.
The textures of each and every single object are all excellent, including skin. The moment with Jez and Regina is very sexy, Kanasta's motherly actions are always adorable, Lilliana's face looks genuinely "Aww! Thank you!!" and .... damn, i know they must be cold, I just wanna rub their feet so bad! And of course, the lil things like posing and proportion are excellent.

Ok. This is by far your greatest illustration! You need to look in the mirror and tell the man, "You sir...... are one awesome mother-f***er!" and give a fonz thumbs up. FANTASTIC illustration mon ami!

What a cute Christmas. Very nice and lovely artwork. Always great to see the happy holidays being jolly and marry. Ha ha!

Your computer crashed too!? it's crushing isn't it? <_<

But it's great to see that you mustered up the determination to do it anyway

I don't know what else to say about it, its beyond excellent with details, I like how Regina came out, and it truly shows your talents in multiple aspects (theme, color, background) and you gave it humor too.

Unbelievable. I can't believe I actually got to see this in every stage no doubt. You don't know how happy I am to see Erusa take part in such a piece of art, especially with all the friends she has made during the year.

A happy (LATE) New Year too ya.:D

Certainly worth it after all that time =P I'm glad to see you're happy, but I can assure you, I'm far happier! The fire effect does surprisingly do a great deal for the image, and it took some time to perfect, but I learned a few things about the layer modes while tweaking it. Photoshop's got all kinds of nifty features, but now that I've been working with this as long as I have, I feel many of its functions are a lot more useful to me :D And I did try to do something with the fabrics to get them to hold some real quality, much like I already do with hair. It's good to know the desired effect can be seen!

The tree does seem to stand out, I'll agree, but being the first of its kind that I've ever drawn, digital or otherwise, I'm surprised it came out looking as nicely as it did, when it could have been far simpler, or messier, for that matter. I used my own as something of a model, having put it together with my grandmother earlier last month, so I tried to replicate that look. Though it is a bit bright, I admit. Ah well, the image wouldn't be right without a Christmas tree. It was fun to draw, too, so I can still come out of that one with a smile.

I'm a bit biased, clearly, having a preference for smooth soles over wrinkles ^^; I'm sure a lot of people will find reason to complain about that, but this is simply how I am. I'm glad you took notice of the textures! :nod: There's quite a bit of activity in this image, subtle as it may be at times, but I had to shove it in there somehow. As for the feet, I'm sure they're a bit chilly, but the fire's definitely doing something for them, at least =P So if you're feeling sorry for them for being so cold, worry not. If you were wanting an excuse to get at their feet... Sorry, man :XD:;

Yeah, it's easily the largest of my works and the one I dedicated myself the most to, so I can't just toss it aside like it was nothing. I appreciate your kind words, I really do. :thanks:

It didn't crash, I just couldn't get rid of that virus! D: I decided the best course of action, since we had little memory left in the first place, would simply be to start from scratch and reformat, and I think it was the best thing to do. But I can't tell you how many times Photoshop almost crashed saving this thing, as huge as it is. Next task: get more RAM!!

I'm grateful to know that you like what you see, whether or not you can find the words =P Thank you very much, my friend.
